Step 1 and Basic Water Awareness for ages 17m-6y
Respect for the water should be the first and foremost lesson a child should learn about water.
Step 1 and Basic Water Awareness for Toddlers- Ages 17m-3y with parent and ages 4y-6y no parent in pool
Join your 18m-3 year old in the water for our Intro to swimming class! All toddlers will be with their parent as we help parents learn how to handle their child in the water as we teach beginning submersions and assisted back floating. 4-6y olds will learn the same skills but with parents watching from deck. We will also focus on beginning safety skills that all parents and children need to know as they are in the pool together.
Step 1 Intro Sessions are available for children ages 18m-3y with parent who do not yet meet the prerequisites for Basic Water Awareness.
Children do not need to meet any prerequisites except to not be fearful of being in the pool. Fearful children should spend time in a pool with their parent just acclimating before trying to join any formal swimming lessons. Step 1 will combine structured lesson time with free exploration and guided practice outlines.
Basic Water Awareness classes are goal oriented sessions that will assist children in a fun and relaxed way to prepare them for beginning survival group survival lessons. 17m-3y will be in class with their parent or caretaker. Ages 4y-6y will be in the water without parents. To join a basic water awareness session, children must be able to have water poured over their head with no fuss or fight and be willing to lay down in the water in a FLAT back float position with their ears in the water with assistance, no fuss or fight.
