Congratulations SWIMBABESÔ!
We've done it again! Kelley and I have just returned from the 1994 National Swim School Association Conference held at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We came home with 3 National Awards! We have 2 National Outstanding Swim Teacher Awards, and for the 2nd year in a row, the coveted Best of Association Award for Outstanding Special Event for the year 1994. The award was presented for the first National Infant/Toddler Aquatic Show, "Our Small World" produced at Buena Park, California.
The National Organization has also jumped on our bandwagon, recognizing and Validating our efforts in research support, starting with a published report to the National Board, including much of our materials, and sending out the first National Survey of Parents polled for their observations on the impact of swimming with their infants/toddlers. The Survey brought in 1600 parent responses from schools across the country, encouraging not only the efforts of Dr. Warren Guntheroff, Head of Pediatrics at the University of Washington, but also Steven Langendorfer, a Motor Specialist Researcher, and graduate of Kent State in Ohio.
In addition, this year your efforts have not only been recognized by the National Swim School Association, but also by the University of Washington, naming SWIMBABESÔ to the President's Club at the University of Washington and listed in the Annual President's Report.
As your Directors, Kelley and I can't thank you enough for all your encouragement, support and commitment. Certainly, this year's theme at the National Conference can be said of us, "None of us is as smart as all of us."
Thank you again for the privilege of being challenged to keep our program committed to bringing the best training possible to your children and for your continued support of research.
